Teaching Style: Sam can be described as grounding, powerful, fun and challenging. You're going to sweat and move but also be moved by your capability and how class makes you feel. You will work hard but also work poses into a sequence that makes sense for the body. Sam likes to teach classes, the way she likes to take them.
Students can expect a fun vibe for class, loud music. ranging from songs you hear a lot and songs you forgot about. There's always lots of different electronic music to take you out of your head or day and into your breath. Sam will guide with breath always and provide suggestions to enhance and take what you need in each class.
Personal Inspiration: Sam's inspiration comes from her students! Most people show up multiple times a week and work on themselves in class. Watching her students transform is the greatest inspiration for not only her teaching, but her personal practice as well. She draws great inspiration from other teachers at CY. We truly have such amazing teachers that she learns from each time she takes a class.
Outside the studio: You can find Sam cooking elaborate meals at home, spending time with her amazing wife, trying new restaurants, planning a vacation, seeing live music and catching up with family.
Why CY? CY is so special for so many reasons! It's 20+ year presence in the city has created a deep rooted community of people of all walks of life. Watching different folks come together in class and encourage and inspire each other is something that she hasn't experienced everywhere she has practiced. The teachers are also top tier. Each week you will find her not only teaching, but in the room learning and practicing with the teachers who are now all of her friends. Each time she walks into the building she feels a sense of home and community and she can't imagine her life without this space.
